Widney joins SOCAN after working as Artist & Repertoire Representative at 31 East Inc., a well-known label and publishing company located in downtown Montréal. There, he oversaw recording projects for artists such as Alx Veliz, Keshia Chante, and Rymz, among many more, and successfully planned and executed songwriting camps and workshops in the U.K. and Montréal. Along with having his finger on the pulse of Québec's emerging music scene, Widney has a deep knowledge of the Francophone music market, and connections within the community at large. Widney also served as Business Development Director and Account Executive at an information technology research and advisory company, Gartner Inc., recruiting clients and providers while promoting the company's services. He holds a degree in Communication Marketing from the University of Québec in Montréal (UQAM).
